The Day My Villain Stopped Working
From my writing journal — 2025
Today I ran into a problem that could have broken my entire story.
Otto Kramer wasn’t working as a villain anymore.
He felt… incomplete.
So I went back — not to the plot, but to his belief system.
What if he doesn’t see himself as evil?
What if he believes he’s correcting something ancient… something humanity got wrong?
That changed everything.
Because in Architects of the Veil, belief is never just belief — it shapes reality.
Now he’s not just dangerous — he’s convinced.
And that’s far worse.
Writing Architects of the Veil is teaching me something unexpected:
The most dangerous characters are not the ones who embrace darkness…
But the ones who think they’re right.
Would you trust someone like that?
